She was detained by police on charges related to passing sensitive Indian information to Pakistani intelligence agents. The charges include sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Official Secrets Act 1923, as well as section 152 of the Indian Penal Code. She has been remanded in police custody for five days, and her case has been referred to the Economic Offences Wing for further investigation.
According to the FIR filed by Sub-Inspector Sanjay at Hisar Civil Lines Police Station, Jyoti Malhotra had a meeting in 2023 with an employee of the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi. This employee introduced her to Pakistani intelligence operatives, and they maintained encrypted communication through various platforms.
