A major breakthrough in natural resource exploration has been achieved with the discovery of significant gas and oil reserves in the Waziristan Block, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Mari Energy, the operator of the Waziristan Block, the Spinwam-1 well has produced 12.96 million cubic feet of gas per day, along with 20 barrels of crude oil.
Drilling at Spinwam-1 commenced on May 28, 2024, and this discovery marks a crucial step toward strengthening Pakistan’s hydrocarbon reserves. Mari Energy holds a 55% stake in the Waziristan Block, while OGDCL and OPI are also part of the joint venture.
The company extended its appreciation to security institutions and federal and provincial governments for their support, highlighting that this discovery will play a key role in boosting Pakistan’s energy sector. It also reaffirmed its commitment to continued exploration and development of new energy resources in the region.
