As Eid-ul-Fitr approaches, many people in Pakistan like to give Eidi in fresh currency notes to children, family members, and relatives. To help citizens obtain new notes easily, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shared clear instructions on how people can receive fresh currency notes through banks.
According to reports, Eid-ul-Fitr is expected around March 20, and demand for new currency notes usually increases during this time. The State Bank has also warned the public that some individuals illegally sell fresh notes at higher prices. Such activities are against the law and citizens should avoid buying notes from unofficial sources.
One of the easiest ways to request new notes is through the 8877 SMS service. The State Bank usually activates this service during the second week of Ramadan. To apply, citizens need to send an SMS from their mobile phone. They should type their CNIC number, leave a space, and then enter the code of their preferred bank branch before sending the message to 8877.

After sending the message, the applicant receives a unique transaction code and the address of the bank branch where the notes can be collected.
Once the message is received, the applicant must visit the selected bank branch with their original CNIC and a photocopy. After verification, banks usually provide fresh note packets of Rs10, Rs20, and Rs50.
If the SMS service is busy, people can also contact their bank branch manager directly. Some branches keep a limited number of fresh notes for account holders.
In major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad, people may also obtain fresh notes from State Bank Banking Services Corporation offices on a first-come, first-served basis.
