Aamir Khan Uses ‘PK’ Trick to Avoid Boycott

Aamir Khan is facing a social media boycott campaign over his upcoming film Starry on Earth. To combat the backlash, Aamir’s production company, Aamir Khan Productions, suddenly changed its display picture (DP) on all social media platforms to the Indian national flag. This move has sparked mixed reactions among fans and critics.

Previously, the official accounts showed the letter ‘A’ logo, but now they display the Indian flag waving proudly. Many see this change as a direct reference to a famous scene from his film PK, where the character wears stickers of Lord God on his cheeks to save himself. This has led to discussions that Aamir is trying to make a statement or show support amid the controversy.

The timing of the change coincides with ongoing social media campaigns criticizing Aamir over his previous statements and actions. Some believe he was slow to comment on India-Pak tensions, especially during Operation Sunder, and he also visited Turkey during the shooting of his film Lal Singh Chaddha in 2020 when Turkey’s friendly stance toward Pakistan drew criticism in India.

Additionally, during his visit to Turkey, where he met Turkish President Erdogan’s wife, opposition grew among Indian nationalists, accusing him of interfering in politics. These controversies have followed him, and many see his current social media move as an attempt to mitigate damage.

Some social media users commented that Aamir likely changed his DP to reduce the boycott efforts. One said, “It’s clear Aamir tried to downplay the boycott by changing his profile picture.” Others were sarcastic, saying, “He’s just doing damage control; the boycott won’t stop that easily.” Yet, some fans defended him, reminding everyone of his previous posts supporting the Indian Army and his visits to Turkey, questioning why he’s being targeted now.

Meanwhile, the trailer for his new film Starry on Earth has recently been released, and it is set to hit cinemas on June 20, 2025. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how this film will impact the ongoing boycott campaign and what effect Aamir’s current political and social stance will have on his popularity.

Will his efforts to calm tensions work? Only time will tell.
