Momina Iqbal Rejects Claims That Harassment Case Is a ‘Personal Matter’

Pakistani actress Momina Iqbal has strongly criticized attempts to describe her ongoing harassment case as a “personal matter,” stating that allegations involving harassment and death threats are serious legal issues that cannot be dismissed as private disputes.

The controversy gained attention after a television reporter questioned Punjab Assembly member Saqib Chaddhar outside the assembly regarding the case filed against him. In response, he said the media should not ask questions about his personal life and should instead focus on parliamentary affairs.

Following the viral interview, Momina Iqbal shared a detailed statement on her Instagram Stories, expressing disappointment over repeated efforts to label the case as a personal issue. She said she had approached state institutions seeking protection and justice against alleged harassment and death threats, making it clear that such accusations fall within the scope of the law and public interest.

The actress argued that if serious allegations like harassment were treated as private matters, then crimes such as domestic violence and honor-related killings could also be wrongly classified as personal issues, which she said would be unacceptable.

Momina further claimed that there had been continuous attempts to keep her case out of the media spotlight and silence her voice. However, she emphasized that her silence should not be interpreted as weakness or pressure. She explained that she has remained patient because of her confidence in the judicial process, the rule of law, and a fair court decision.

She also dismissed reports circulating on social media about an alleged reconciliation, reiterating that no settlement has taken place and that the case remains pending before the court. She added that repeated requests for adjournments have been made during court proceedings by the opposing side.
