Veteran Pakistani film director Syed Noor has expressed concern over the increasing demands and so-called “protocols” of modern-day actors, saying that filmmakers like him can no longer afford such expenses.
In a recent interview, Syed Noor shared that earlier in the film industry, actors were more cooperative and focused mainly on work. However, according to him, the situation has now changed significantly, especially with rising expectations from performers in terms of comfort and luxury.
He stated that today many actors reportedly demand personal staff, including secretaries, makeup artists, and hairdressers. In addition, they expect business class travel tickets and fully equipped vanity vans during shoots. He explained that these requirements have made film production more expensive and difficult for independent filmmakers.
Film Industry “Cannot Be Revived,” Says Veteran Director Syed Noor
Syed Noor said that while some people may call these demands “protocols,” he personally believes they are unnecessary burdens that many producers cannot afford. As a result, he mentioned that he is now focusing on working with new and emerging talent rather than established stars with high demands.
The director also shared that he has always preferred introducing fresh faces in his films throughout his career. He emphasized that his upcoming project Chooriyan 2 is also facing challenges in casting a suitable heroine due to these changing industry expectations.
His comments have sparked discussion within the entertainment industry, highlighting the growing gap between production budgets and celebrity lifestyles. Many observers believe that rising costs and changing working styles are reshaping the dynamics of Pakistani cinema.
Syed Noor’s remarks reflect a broader concern among filmmakers about balancing creativity, budgets, and evolving industry standards in a competitive entertainment landscape.
