Pakistani film industry star Shan Shahid has once again sparked debate by criticizing leading actors from Karachi, adding fuel to the ongoing discussion about differences between Lahore and Karachi’s entertainment industries.
The issue came into focus during the promotional event of his new film “Psycho”, where Shan Shahid visited Karachi for the trailer launch. However, some major film stars from Karachi, including Humayun Saeed and Fahad Mustafa, did not attend the event. This absence led journalists to question him about possible lack of cooperation from Karachi-based actors.
Responding to the question, Shan Shahid expressed his views and said that some Karachi actors prefer to work within a limited circle and avoid collaborating with artists outside their group. He added that a true actor is someone who challenges themselves by working with different people and learning from experience.

He further stated that he has always worked with a variety of artists and never hesitated to learn from others. According to him, some actors in Karachi are not open to collaboration, which limits the growth of the industry.
Shan Shahid also mentioned that for almost ten years, Karachi did not feel the need to call him, but he is always open to working whenever invited. He emphasized that respect and humility are important qualities for any successful artist.
He compared attitudes in the industry by saying that some actors talk about “no borders in art” when working internationally, but hesitate when it comes to working with artists from Lahore. He believes this double standard affects unity in Pakistan’s film industry.
Despite his criticism, Shan Shahid clarified that he appreciates good work from all regions and wants the Pakistani film industry to grow through collaboration between Karachi and Lahore artists.
The comments have sparked discussions on social media, with fans divided over the issue. Some support his views, while others believe collaboration challenges exist on both sides.
No official response has yet been given by Karachi-based actors regarding his remarks.
