Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi has officially challenged the decision of a lower court in the defamation case filed by fellow artist Ali Zafar. She has submitted an appeal in the Lahore High Court, requesting that the previous judgment be declared invalid.
According to the appeal, Meesha Shafi argues that the trial court did not properly examine the facts and legal aspects of the case. She maintains that the decision was not based on a complete understanding of the evidence presented during the hearings.

She further stated that the matter is still linked to sexual harassment allegations, which are pending final judgment in the Supreme Court. Therefore, she believes it is premature to declare any claims as false until a final decision is made at the highest legal level.
The earlier verdict by the session court had ruled in favor of Ali Zafar in the defamation case and ordered Meesha Shafi to pay significant damages. Following this decision, she has now moved to a higher court to challenge the ruling.
This case has been closely followed in Pakistan’s entertainment industry and media for several years, drawing widespread public attention and debate. Both artists remain well-known figures in the music scene, and the legal battle between them continues to attract interest.
The Lahore High Court will now review the appeal and decide whether the previous judgment should be upheld or reconsidered based on the arguments presented.
