Man Jailed for Playing Noor Jehan Song Too Loud Released on Bail

A local court in Lahore has approved the bail of a man who was arrested for allegedly playing a famous Noor Jehan song at high volume in his car. The court ordered his immediate release after he spent a night behind bars.

The incident took place in Nawab Town, Lahore, where a citizen named Danish was driving while loudly playing the legendary singer Noor Jehan’s famous Punjabi track “Jhanjar Di Pawaan Chhankar.”

According to police, Danish was stopped at a checkpoint, where officers questioned him about the loud music. He reportedly told them that listening to Noor Jehan’s songs only feels enjoyable when the volume is high.

Following this, Nawab Town Police registered a case against him under the Amplifier Act, on the complaint of Assistant Sub-Inspector Rahmat Ali. Danish was taken into custody and kept in lock-up overnight.

He was later produced in court, where the judge granted him bail and ordered his release.

The unusual case has sparked debate, with some arguing that while noise pollution laws must be respected, arresting someone for passionately listening to Noor Jehan at high volume seems excessive. Others, however, supported the action, saying loud music in public spaces can disturb peace.
