Did Shaheen Afridi Really Have a Fiery Clash with His Coach? Find Out the Truth!
Pakistan cricket team’s fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, found himself in a heated argument with batting coach Mohammad Yousuf during the tour of England, just before the World Cup. This confrontation came to light following reports from Lahore suggesting that coaches and management had raised concerns with the PCB chairman about Afridi’s attitude during the tour.
Multiple sources within the team management confirmed to a private channel that the incident was a “heat-of-the-moment” exchange and was resolved quickly. They emphasized that there was no lasting issue to report.
Recalling the incident, a source shared that while Afridi was bowling in the nets at Headingley, Mohammad Yousuf pointed out his repeated no-balls. Shaheen, feeling frustrated, snapped back at Yousuf, telling him to mind his own business. Yousuf, in turn, reminded Shaheen that as a coach, it was his job to provide such feedback.
The argument escalated briefly until senior manager Wahab Riaz intervened and reprimanded Shaheen for his behavior. Recognizing his mistake, Shaheen apologized to the former batting legend, and the matter was settled on the spot.
“This was nothing more than a routine heat-of-the-moment case, so the chapter was closed there and then,” explained the source, clarifying why it wasn’t reported to the PCB.
While there have been rumors about Shaheen’s behavior with the coaches and management during recent tours, the source maintained that he was unaware of any other incidents involving Afridi.
“When you are on a tour for months, minor heated arguments happen. These are routine matters. There was nothing significant that required strict action against anyone,” a source close to the team’s dugout told this correspondent.
