‘Ainak Wala Jin’ Animated Reboot Sparks Copyright Dispute

A controversy has emerged over the upcoming animated reboot of Pakistan Television’s iconic children’s drama “Ainak Wala Jin”, with the show’s original writer and creator, Hafeez Tahir, expressing strong objections to the project.

In a recent statement, Hafeez Tahir claimed that the animated version was produced without his permission and that his original concept had been used without his consent. He said he was deeply disappointed and upset after watching the promotional clips, criticizing the reboot’s quality and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate the classic series.

The veteran writer described Ainak Wala Jin as one of Pakistan’s most beloved television dramas, recalling how it captivated an entire generation of children and became a cultural phenomenon during its original run on PTV.

Hafeez Tahir also revealed that he is considering legal action, arguing that his intellectual property rights may have been violated. Actor Umair Rana also weighed in on the matter, advising Hafeez Tahir to pursue the issue through legal channels and present it before the Artists Collective Trust (ACT).

The controversy has reignited discussions about copyright, creative ownership, and the ethical use of AI in adapting classic works for modern audiences.
