Aleema Khan, the sister of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has publicly questioned the PTI leadership for leaving protesters in disarray during Tuesday night’s government crackdown.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Aleema expressed frustration over the lack of coordination, claiming the protest site plunged into confusion as the container’s sound and light systems were shut down early in the evening.
“Why was the sound and light on the container shut early evening?” she asked.
She further highlighted the protesters’ plight, writing, “In total darkness, there were no instructions or any guidance available for the people on the ground. We pleaded all evening for the light and sound to be turned on, but the people giving instructions didn’t respond.”
Her remarks come in the wake of intensified tensions between the government and PTI, as the party continues to mobilize supporters against what it calls an undemocratic crackdown. Over the past few months, PTI has faced relentless pressure, including the arrests of its top leaders, restrictions on its public gatherings, and dwindling coordination as internal divisions begin to surface. These issues have left many questioning the leadership’s preparedness to sustain mass movements.
The lack of communication during the protests, as highlighted by Aleema, has fueled widespread discontent among PTI supporters. Social media platforms were abuzz with videos and posts from protesters who felt stranded in the chaos. Many blamed the leadership for failing to provide a clear strategy, while others speculated about potential sabotage or disorganization within the party’s core team.
Aleema’s comments add to the growing scrutiny over PTI’s ability to effectively steer its supporters through an increasingly hostile political climate.
