Pakistani actor, writer, and director Yasir Hussain has publicly challenged Bollywood star Sunny Deol, urging him to embrace the legacy of his father, veteran actor Dharmendra, rather than promoting narratives of division.
The comment came in response to Sunny Deol’s recent Instagram video celebrating the box office success of his latest film, Border 2, which has grossed over $22 million. In the video, Deol remarked, “How far has the voice reached?” and answered, “Right to your hearts.”

Responding in the comments section, Yasir Hussain wrote a measured yet pointed message: “Respects, Sunny Paaji. Since childhood, I have watched and loved your films. But the voice of love reaches hearts, not the voice of hatred.” He stated that the message of Border 2 “only reached the hearts of those who spread hatred.”
Hussain went on to challenge Sunny Deol to step into the humanitarian cinematic footsteps of his father. He specifically called on Deol to make at least one film like Aakais, an anti-war film by Dharmendra that highlights the value of human life over aggressive nationalism.
Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh, also stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. The exchange has sparked discussion on social media about the role of cinema in bridging divides and promoting peace versus perpetuating conflict.
