Stand-up comedian and TV host Tabish Hashmi has revealed a shocking incident from his past, saying that workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) abducted him in 2008. However, he stressed that he has never been a member of the political party.

In an interview on Geo Podcast, Hashmi discussed his career journey and the preparation behind his show Hansna Mana Hai. During the discussion, he was asked about rumors linking him to MQM. He rejected those claims but shared the story of his kidnapping.

According to Hashmi, in April 2008, he was taken away by MQM workers during his university’s annual function. He said he was kept in a small car for several hours, with guns pointed at his head and back, while being threatened with death. “They said they would beat me and throw me away, but thankfully, I was released alive,” he recalled.

He also revealed that his father had been kidnapped by the same group before him. At that time, Hashmi admitted he was filled with anger and even thought about revenge, but later chose forgiveness. “If I try to take revenge, I will lower myself to their level. I have moved on,” he said.
