Season 1 of the Game of Thrones prequel shows House of the Dragon has progressed halfway through. We Light The Way, the fifth episode, keeps the show interesting with so many interesting things happening.
One of the most easily swayed characters in the entire A Song of Ice and Fire series is King Viserys Targaryen. He repeatedly probes his staff and advisors on whether or not they consider him a good monarch. This behavior is indicative of a weak monarchy. It’s worrying that the king doesn’t seem confident in handling things, which could affect his family and the kingdom.
Furthermore, Viserys cannot put themselves in another person’s shoes and see things as clearly as they do. For telling him the truth about his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, he has already fired his hand, Ser Otto Hightower. His daughter has tricked him into believing her guilty and has placed the blame on her father’s trusted counsel.
Most people are wrong about Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen being the main character. She reminds us of Daenerys Targaryen, her descendant. In other words, a liar, con artist, and hypocrite.
The monarch has taken on the personality of Lord Eddard Stark, who met his end because of his naiveté and ideological views. The northern warden was caught off guard, and the situation was already resolved.
What they say about Otto Hightower is true: he’s a villain, but he’s telling the truth. His daughter has been up to some mischief, and he wants to tell the monarch the truth, even though he knows it will have repercussions for the family name and the political situation.
The idea that one should always tell the truth no matter how uncomfortable may ring true with everything he has said. We should take his advice and trust our gut to avoid the pitfalls he encountered.
Moreover, he’s making the inevitable prediction that Prince Aegon and Princess Rhaenyra will face off against one another. He sounds and acts like the Lannister patriarch, Lord Tywin, and similarly carries himself.
We’re very proud of how Queen Alicent Hightower matures into a formidable leader. The only thing going for the former best friend turned stepmother of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is that she knows how to play the game and is the game’s main player.
After researching, Alicent has decided what she believes to be true. She knows that things are going badly and must take charge. The episode centered on the wedding of Ser Laenor Velaryon and Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Similarly to the marriages in Game of Thrones, this one did not end well
