“Don’t Expect This From Me” – Atif Aslam Responds to Criticism Over Performing After Father’s Death

World-renowned Pakistani singer Atif Aslam has broken his silence on the criticism he faced for continuing his concerts soon after the death of his father. In a candid interview with Indo-Canadian host and journalist Fareedoon Shahryar during his recent shows in Canada, Atif gave a strong response to those questioning his personal choices.

Personal Grief Turned Into Public Debate

Atif Aslam shared that people criticized him for performing after such a personal loss. Some claimed, “This happened to him, and yet he was back on stage the next day.” Atif said it hurt him to see his family’s grief being used by media outlets to gain ratings. According to him, whether he chose to perform or not was his personal decision, and nobody had the right to dictate it.

“It’s Not My Job to Explain”

Expressing his frustration, Atif said, “I rebel when people talk about me like this. It is my decision whether I perform or not, and it is not my job to explain it to anyone. I cannot connect with the entire world. Love me for my artistry, dislike my songs if you want, but do not expect me to give clarifications about my personal life.”

Focus on Art, Not Controversy

Atif made it clear that he wants to be known for his music, not for discussions around his personal tragedies. He believes an artist’s true identity is reflected through their work, not their private struggles. Despite the criticism, he continues to focus on delivering powerful performances for his fans worldwide.
