Getting Your E-Visa for Azerbaijan

Good news! Pakistan is among the 90+ countries that can apply for an e-visa to Azerbaijan. Simply head over to their e-visa website, fill out a form, pay with your debit or credit card, and you’ll have your visa ready in just a few days.

Visa Cost: $25 for normal (7000 PKR approx.)  and  $50 for urgent (14000 PKR approx.)

Processing Time: 3 days (normal) or 3 hours (urgent)

Travel Duration and Costs

Azerbaijan is a compact country, making it easy to explore its highlights in about 10 days. If you decide to stay longer, remember to register your stay with local Migration services.

Expect to spend around PKR 1.5 to 2 lakh for a 10-day trip, with flight tickets ranging from PKR 65,000 to 1.2 lakh, depending on your departure city.

Local Currency and Tips

Azerbaijan uses the Manat, which is roughly equivalent to PKR 94 (exchange rates may vary). It’s wise to travel with US Dollars and exchange them at local banks in Baku for better rates. You can also exchange currency at the airport, but the rates are usually better in the city.

Staying Connected

Grab a local SIM card with a data plan to stay connected, hail taxis, or navigate with Google Maps. Bakcell is a good option for SIM cards.

Best Time to Visit

Azerbaijan has hot summers and mild winters, but the ideal times to visit are May and September, just after the peak summer and winter months.

Food to Try

Azerbaijani cuisine is a treat, especially if you love grilled meats like kebabs. Don’t miss out on Azeri Pulao and delicious baklava from local shops. The tea here is also quite similar to Pakistani tea, so you’ll feel right at home!

Getting Around

For intercity travel, marshrutkas (minibuses) are a great option. They’re comfortable, economical, and perfect for longer distances. You’ll find these minibuses heading out of Baku to all major cities.
