After Khan’s interview, PEMRA cancels the Bol program as a ‘threat to national security.’

"Imran Khan interview",

After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan appeared on the Bol News program Tajzia hosted by Sami Ibrahim, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) suspended the program.

The notification states that “Khan’s words on the show posed a severe threat to the country’s national security, independence, sovereignty, integrity, and ideology and violated Article 19 of the Constitution, the PEMRA Ordinance, and the Electronic Media Code of Conduct” (2015).

Article 19 primarily states, “Every citizen shall have the right to freedom of speech and expression, and there shall be freedom of the press, subject to any reasonable restrictions imposed by law in the interest of the glory of Islam or the integrity, security, or defense of Pakistan or any part thereof, friendly relations with foreign States, public order, decency, or morality, or about contempt of court or incitement to commit an offense.”

Imran Khan stated in a Wednesday interview that if the establishment does not make the correct decisions, “the army would be decimated.”

He said, “If the establishment does not make the correct judgments, I can guarantee in writing that the army and they will be annihilated. Pakistan is heading toward insolvency. If the proper judgments are not made, the nation will be on a path to self-destruction.”
