Wanindu Hasaranga, a Sri Lankan all-rounder selected by Quetta Gladiators with their PSL 8 platinum pick, will miss the tournament.
According to sources, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has denied the all-rounder a NOC for the premier league.
The all-rounder was anticipated to arrive in Pakistan on Monday but will now be unable to play for Gladiators.
The Gladiators have already lost two of their first three games, so this news is a significant setback to their plans.
A week before the tournament, the captain of Quetta stated in an interview with Cricket Pakistan that Hasaranga’s availability throughout the entire season would be crucial for his team.
“In terms of foreigners, Hasaranga is an important addition to our team. Since he is the best spinner in the world, he was our first selection. If he is available for us from the beginning of the season, it will be extremely beneficial,” said Sarfaraz.
Lahore Qalandars selected Shai Hope as a replacement for Kusal Mendis, who was denied permission by SLC to participate in PSL 8 last week.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa is participating in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar Zalmi.
