Waris Baig Reveals Father Once Opposed His Singing Career but Later Took Pride in Him

Famous Pakistani playback singer Waris Baig has shared an emotional story about how his father initially disapproved of his passion for singing but later proudly introduced him as his son once he rose to fame.

Speaking on a program on Neo TV, Waris Baig revealed that his father was a businessman who never supported his interest in music. Other family members also discouraged him from pursuing singing as a career.

According to Baig, it was his mother who always believed in his talent and encouraged him to continue. Sadly, she passed away before he gained recognition, but he credits her unwavering support for helping him reach where he is today.

Becoming emotional while recalling his mother, the singer explained that his father would often advise him to leave singing and focus on another profession that could guarantee a stable future. “Parents never think badly for their children,” Waris said. “My father wanted what he thought was best for me, though he could not see my passion at that time.”

He added that his mother frequently intervened, urging his father to attend musical gatherings and weddings with him. Eventually, after Waris Baig became a successful singer, his father’s attitude changed.

“When I became famous, my father’s friends would ask him to bring me along to their events. That’s when he started feeling proud and began introducing me as his son,” Waris shared with a smile.

Today, Waris Baig is considered one of Pakistan’s most celebrated playback singers, but he continues to acknowledge that behind his success was the love of his mother and, eventually, the pride of his father.
