Feminism Does Not Mean Hating Men, Says Actress Zhalay Sarhadi

Pakistani actress and model Zhalay Sarhadi has spoken openly about feminism, social media controversies, and the responsibilities of public figures. She recently appeared on the FHM Podcast, where she shared her views on feminism, women’s rights, and viral stunts by celebrities.

The discussion came after actress Hania Aamir’s viral video of performing a bike stunt and YouTuber Ducky Bhai’s clip of driving a car with his feet and eyes closed spread online. When asked about such acts, Zhalay said that famous personalities must understand their influence on the public. “Even if they say it’s a personal act, it no longer remains personal once shared online. People do get influenced,” she explained.

Zhalay Sarhadi Criticizes Maria B, Says She Seeks Fame Through Controversy

Zhalay defended Hania Aamir, clarifying that her stunt was part of a project shoot, while she criticized Ducky Bhai for doing dangerous stunts purely for views, which, according to her, led to his recent legal troubles. She also advised newcomers not to chase popularity through irresponsible acts.

Talking about feminism, Zhalay Sarhadi strongly emphasized: “Feminism does not mean hating men. It simply means giving women equal rights based on their skills and hard work, not on gender.” She added that whether women choose to stay at home or pursue a career, both are valid choices and should be respected.

The actress praised Mishi Khan for creating positive and sensible social media content, while criticizing designer Maria B for making “negative videos” that harm Pakistan’s image internationally. Zhalay claimed that Maria B intentionally picks controversial topics, such as LGBT and transgender issues, only to gain attention, which she finds damaging.

Her comments have sparked debate, especially around the true meaning of feminism and the responsibility of influencers in shaping public opinion.
